Nick is a Portfolio Manager within the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II) team at Mercia Business Loans, having joined in 2026.
He is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with portfolio businesses and monitoring the ongoing performance of SMEs that have received debt funding, ensuring they are well positioned to achieve their growth ambitions.
Nick works closely with management teams across a range of sectors, providing ongoing support and oversight following investment and helping businesses navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with growth.
Previous experience
Prior to joining Mercia Business Loans, Nick was an Investment Manager at Creative UK, where he was responsible for deploying the £35m Creative Growth Finance II debt fund.
In this role, he conducted detailed due diligence on prospective investments, developed a deep understanding of business operations and growth strategies, and supported ambitious SMEs with the growth capital needed to achieve their strategic objectives.
Nick began his career after completing an apprenticeship with NatWest and subsequently held relationship management roles within the corporate banking divisions of both NatWest and Santander. During this time, he developed extensive experience working with SMEs and management teams across a wide range of industries, gaining a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by growing businesses. He also has previous experience deploying debt investments through the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund I (NPIF I), giving him valuable insight into supporting businesses throughout their growth journey.
